Update (5:50 pm): A newer version of this story is available here.

A suspect is being held by police in connection to the fatal stabbing of a Dyker Heights man early Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, at 4:22 am on April 15, officers responded to a call regarding a wellness check at a home on 84th Street near 14th Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers found a 57-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, with multiple stab wounds to his body.

EMS pronounced the victim, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, dead at the scene. The man’s 26-year-old son was taken into custody, according to police sources.

The suspect, not yet identified by police, had been sheltering in place at the home before allegedly attacking his father.

“I just saw him three days ago. I am sad to know that he’s gone,” said Mansor Hassan, 54, a neighbor of the family.

At this time, the NYPD could not confirm if charges have been brought against the 26-year-old man. Crime scene investigators were at the house this morning and the investigation is ongoing.
