Man killed in all-terrain-vehicle crash

A 49-year-old man died after he was ejected from his all-terrain vehicle during a nighttime ride in Gerritsen Beach on March 18, police say.

Authorities say Kenneth Proveaux was operating a 2002 Polaris Scrambler near Gerritsen Avenue when the vehicle struck a cement block at 9:49 pm. Police say Proveaux was then ejected from the vehicle and hit his head on another cement block, which caused severe head trauma.

Emergency medical services transported Proveaux to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
