A Sunset Park man was killed on April 1 when he was repeatedly stabbed in a fight in front of a troubled 64th Street sushi restaurant in his neighborhood, according to police.
Officers found 41-year-old Wei Lin in front of Go One Sushi between Eighth and Ninth avenues just after 4 am with multiple stab wounds, and police determined later that he had been stabbed in the chest three times during a fight in front of the eatery with an unknown person. Emergency medical personnel transported the man to Maimonides Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
There are no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
The location has a long history of controversy. It was formerly a karaoke club, Crown KTV, under a different owner, and received numerous violations for open drug use and selling alcohol to underage customers, according to a document from Community Board 10. And there were five stabbings reported to have occurred in front of the eatery in August 2011, according to the document.
CB10 approved numerous resolutions urging the state to revoke or deny the establishment’s liquor license, due both to the violations as well as the eatery’s proximity to PS 69 a block away, and the State Liquor Authority revoked its license in June 2014.
There is no phone number currently listed for the eatery, but there are two listed for fashion emporiums at the address, one of which is out of service. The district manager, Josephine Beckmann, said the community board believes the business is illegally renting out space at the address.
