Jose Miguel Medina’s two home runs and four runs batted in helped the Clones trap the Valley Cats on Wednesday.
Medina’s first bomb came in the fourth when, with Brooklyn up just 4–3, the right fielder and lead-off hitter smashed a one-and-one pitch over the left-center field wall, driving in Jose Brizuela and Manny Rodriguez.
His second, a solo shot on a three-and-one pitch leading off the eighth, put the Cyclones up 7–3.
After a shaky first inning in which starting pitcher Christian James gave up three runs before recording an out, the hurler settled down and threw six innings of three-hit ball, striking out five and earning the win. Relievers Adam Hill and Trent Johnson gave up two runs in three innings of the blowout.
The Clones ended the night with 11 hits, to Tri-City’s seven.
With the win, the Cyclones remained tied with the hated Staten Island Yankees for second place in the McNamara Division, at 18–14, a game and a half behind the even more hated defending champion, the Hudson Valley Renegades.
