The human body is an amazing piece of work.
For example, there are so many veins that run through our bodies, delivering blood and oxygen; doing the jobs nature intended. It’s a complex maze we don’t often think about — until something goes amiss. Then, we’re forced to ponder it, because we’re in pain.
Fortunately, there are doctors who have mastered this puzzle, and know how to piece everything together to make us well again.
Dr. Anjan Rau (330 Ninth Street, 718−832−1964) is one such doctor. He is a Board−certified general and vascular surgeon, with 18 years of experience in the field. The doctor specializes in vascular surgery, and there have been great advances in this field like laser vein closures.
Some of the latest procedures can be done right in the office, under local anesthesia, “in less than 30 minutes,” says the doctor. “The results are excellent,” “More than 95% of patients are satisfied,” and they do not need to wear compression stockings anymore.
Dr. Rau is a skilled surgeon who is often called upon to perform angiograms, a test that uses a special dye to take photos of blood flow. He notes that, “A lot more people are undergoing balloon and stent placement to improve circulation,” and this is a good thing, because it is only when they fail, that a bypass is done. Stents are becoming quite common, and results have been good. They keep veins open, so that normal blood flow may occur. The doctor performs these at the New York Methodist Hospital, with which he is affiliated.
Some of the procedures he has performed on arteries of the neck “can prevent strokes, as they deal with built−up plaque. Again, As per Dr. Rau “His results are excellent,” Of all the procedures he’s done, no one has suffered a stroke.
Dr. Rau has an enormous amount of experience working with patients who need dialysis. “I’ve taken care of thousands,” he says. He puts in an AV Fistula, the connection between the artery and the vein in the arm for dialysis.
For those who suffer from varicose veins, the doctor utilizes the Ndyag laser, which takes care of spider veins, those small red, blue and purple irregularly−shaped blood vessels, which so many people have on their legs. This special laser uses a light to treat the surface of the leg, targeting the veins, with a series of pulses. This advanced technology delivers a precise dose of energy, making these veins disappear. It’s an effective and convenient way to treat this issue.
