This game will be one for the gods!
New York Mets star hurler Noah Syndergaard, known as “Thor” for his physical likeness to the Norse god of thunder, will take the mound for the Cyclones on Sunday as part of the rehabilitation process for a strained right-finger ligament that sidelined him months ago.
Syndergaard’s turn pitching for the Clones in the game against the hated Staten Island Yankees will be the first time he returns to the field after landing on the disabled list on May 29.
Before moving to the DL, the righty from Texas had a 4–1 record on the 2018 season, with a 3.06 earned-run average and 76 strikeouts over roughly 64 innings of play with the Mets.
Syndergaard last pitched for Brooklyn when our boys faced off against the Evil Empire in their last game of the 2017 season — the worst in the franchise’s history — when he struck out two and allowed three runs on three hits over two innings, and the Clones ultimately lost 8–4.
“Thor” will seek revenge on the Yanks on July 8 at 4 pm at MCU Park.
