A Midwood building collapsed after a drunk driver slammed his car into its ground floor on Monday night, according to authorities.

Cops charged 20-year-old East Flatbush resident Andrew Baird with driving while under the influence, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and other charges related to the incident.

First responders arrived on the scene at 496 Avenue P at approximately 11:30 p.m. on May 6 after Baird had driven into the first-floor storefront, which was closed at the time, police said.

The building, which housed Bais Keepers Real Estate agency on the second floor had collapsed before police arrived.

The building was vacant at the time of the incident, according to police.

Baird, who was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident, attempted to flee but was apprehended less than a mile away shortly after the incident, police said.

First responders took the vehicle operator to Lutheran hospital for testing and treatment of minor wounds. No other injuries have been reported, according to authorities.
