‘Miss Brooklyn’ now just ‘B1’ – Revised plans for Atlantic Yards towers unveiled

Miss Brooklyn has undergone a serious facelift and has changed her name to Building One (B1), but she remains on the horizon in the borough’s future, according to Atlantic Yards developer Bruce Ratner.

Ratner and his Forest City Ratner Companies (FRCR), along with star architect Frank Gehry, unveiled their renderings last week for the first phase of the $4 billion, 22-acre Atlantic Yards project.

Phase one of the project is expected to break ground later this year and will include three buildings near the Flatbush/Atlantic Avenue intersections.

They include B1, a 511-feet, 34-story office tower; the Barclay’s Center Arena that will become home of the NBA’s Nets basketball team; and Building Two (B2), a residential tower with 50 percent market-rate units, 30 percent middle-income units and 20 percent low-income units.

“Frank Gehry’s elegant design speaks volumes about the hard work and significant steps forward we have made to date,” said Ratner in a released statement.

“Each day, working with our public sector partners, we are advancing Atlantic Yards with an emphasis on all the important public benefits
