Motorist fatally strikes Sheepshead Bay woman

A motorist fatally struck a Sheepshead Bay woman crossing Nostrand Avenue on Oct. 11.

Police found the woman lying on the road with wounds on her head and body near Emmons Avenue at about 8 pm, and Emergency Medical Services rushed her to Coney Island Hospital, where was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Elina Solokov, 45, of Ocean Avenue between avenues T and U, was crossing Nostrand Avenue outside the marked crosswalk when the driver hit her with his 2015 Dodge Durango and ran over her, according to police.

The motorist was driving on Emmons Avenue towards Brighton Beach, turning right onto Nostrand Avenue towards Avenue Y when he hit the pedestrian, according to the police.

The driver stayed at the scene and no arrests were made, but the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
