Music makes the Ridge go around

There is a ton of free tunes to take in this weekend in the Ridge!

On Friday night, flit over to the Brooklyn Firefly (7003 Third Ave. at Ovington Avenue) to hear songstress Hannah Gill belt out some soulful original songs. Gill, who take inspiration from Lana Del Ray, Regina Spektor, and Florence and the Machine, will start her free, two-hour show at 8 pm.

Those who would rather start the weekend with Irish tunes can instead amble over to the Greenhouse Café (7717 Third Ave. between 77th and 78th streets), where the Brooklyn Bards will belt out tunes by the Clancy Brothers, the Furey Brothers, and non-siblings the Chieftains, at a free show beginning at 9 pm.

On Saturday night, gather your minions, children, or other little ones and wander to Owl’s Head Park (Colonial Road and 68th Street) for a free screening of “Despicable Me” — the animated flick starring Steve Carrell as a supervillain — starting at 8:45 pm. Get there early to stake out your spot on the lawn.

For more adult entertainment, you can escape to Kelly’s Tavern (9259 Fourth Ave. between 92nd and 94th streets) at 9 pm, to enjoy rock and blues tunes from the Friends in Sound trio.

Sunday night, end your weekend with acoustic covers of party hits from one-half of the band Screaming Broccoli. Bandmates Michael and Gary will take the stage of the Wicked Monk (9510 Third Ave. between 95th and 96th streets) for a free show that starts at 5 pm.

And the music does not end when the weekend does! Keep the good times going on Tuesday night, with a free concert in Shore Road Park (enter at Shore Road and 95th Street). Frankie Marra and His Band will play covers of rock hits at the show, beginning at 7 pm.
