Detectives in Brooklyn are looking for clues surrounding the death of a 31-year-old man who walked into a hospital with a serious gunshot wound early on Monday morning.

Through private means, law enforcement sources said, the unidentified victim arrived at Kings County Hospital, located at 451 Clarkson Ave., at about 12:35 am on May 17. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and was rushed to the emergency room for treatment.

Despite the medical team’s best efforts, the victim died at the hospital a short time later. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.

At this point in the ongoing investigation, detectives do not yet know where the victim was initially shot, or the circumstances that led to the attack.

Sources familiar with the investigation said that police are investigating a possible link between that homicide and another shooting earlier on Monday morning at a house party in East Flatbush.

In that incident, authorities said, a 30-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and legs after the bullets rang out at 688 Remsen Ave. at about 12:23 am on May 17. The victim was brought to nearby Brookdale University Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
