Sweet!

It’s National Donut Day, and Brooklynites with a sweet tooth are in luck. Many of the borough’s beloved bake shops are offering deals on select donuts to mark the occasion, held each year on the first Friday of June. The annual celebration dates back to 1938, when The Salvation Army in Chicago hosted a “National Donut Day” event to honor those of their members who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.

Now, with an estimated 25,000 donut shops across the country making over 10 billion donuts a year, it’s no wonder the do-gooder’s “holiday” stuck.

Here’s (just some of the places) you can score a sweet deal this National Donut Day:

Darn Donuts (Bay Ridge)

This donut shop is offering a pretty sweet deal: if you buy two dozen donuts, you’ll get four for free!

Cuzin’s Duzin (Downtown Brooklyn)

Cuzin’s Duzin in Dekalb Market Hall is offering limited edition “donuts for grown-ups” that features Hennesy — and Fruity Pebble-flavored ones for the kids.

Dun-Well Donuts (East Williamsburg)

Head to Dun-Well Donuts in East Williamsburg today and get a free raspberry mocha donut hole with any purchase.

Brandon’s Donuts (Carroll Gardens)

This donut shop in Carroll Gardens’ classic flavors are all buy-one, get-one-free today! Patrons looking for a good bargain can choose from their beloved birthday cake, vanilla, cinnamon sugar and chocolate donuts.

Doughnut Plant (Downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg)

The Doughnut Plant has a special flavor for National Donut Day. Their holiday masterpiece is a mini donut with vanilla dough that’s double glazed with both vanilla and raspberry, and topped with in-house made sprinkles. This flavor is being offered at all of Doughbut Plant’s locations citywide, including its Downtown Brooklyn and Williamsburg sweet shops.
