It looks like there’s a new beer garden in town!
Just weeks after the owners of Radegast Hall announced that they would double the size of their popular beer garden, an Upper West Side chef received Community Board 1’s approval for his own plan to apparently convert a former window blinds company on Driggs Avenue into a new shrine to suds.
Chef Michael Psilakis, owner of Kefi in Manhattan, said through a spokesman that his decision to open a new eatery is not definite, and he has not signed a lease on the new spot. But his company, which operates under the name “Biergarten Williamsburg,” did get approval from the board on March 9 for the spot just off N. 11th Street.
“They showed us their plan,” said CB1 Public Safety Committee Chairman Mieszko Kalita.
“They are mostly hoping that people from the industrial places will show up to eat.”
