Noooooo! Cyclones lose again, fall behind hated Yankees!

Connecticut 7

Cyclones 2

Aug. 23 at MCU Park

The fall from grace continues.

The Cyclones lost their fourth in a row last night, this time to the lowly Connecticut Tigers. And less than a week after reaching first place in the dog fight that is the McNamara Division, our boys now sit in third behind first-place Hudson Valley and, of course, the hated Staten Island Yankess.

Connecticut dominated the Cyclones, after Tiger Juan Aguilera hurled four scoreless innings of relief, striking out four and allowing only one hit.

Brooklyn never had a shot in this one, as Connecticut batsmen pounced on starter Briam Campusano, who gave up five runs on six hits in just four innings — digging a hole too deep for his offense to climb out of. Tiger Alexis Garcia homered on a 3–2 pitch to lead off the game, setting the tone, and even though the Clones tied things up in the second on Jose Miguel Medina’s double that drove in Walter “Rabbi” Rasquin, things quickly went south.

Connecticut scored two more in the third, a pair of runs in the fourth, sending Campusano to the shower as Brooklyn’s bats were stymied by Aguilera.

The loss was Brooklyn’s first of the season to Connecticut, whom the Clones previously swept twice.

Hopefully, things will turn out different tonight when we take on Connecticut at 6:40 pm at MCU Park.
