Cops cuff 19-year-old for fatal Gowanus stabbing

Police arrested a 19-year-old for the alleged murder of a 25-year-old, and the stabbing of another victim in Gowanus on Sunday. 

NYPD officers rushed to the scene ​​near Seventh Street and Third Avenue at around 10:45 pm, where they found the two bloodied victims in critical condition, according to police reports. 

EMS personnel rushed the victims, aged 25 and 21, to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where doctors pronounced Bensonhurst resident Marvin Pretto dead from a stab wound to the chest.

The 21-year-old, who was stabbed in the back, is listed in stable condition, and is expected to survive, cops said. 

The following day, cops arrested Jose Velasco, and charged him with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police. 

The killing marks just the second murder in the 78th NYPD Precinct this year, following a Feb. 13 homicide at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Bergen Street, according to police statistics
