Police searching for two gunmen after Crown Heights attempted assault: NYPD

The New York Police Department is searching for two individuals who are suspected of an attempted assault in Crown Heights on Monday.

According to police, two unknown men shot firearms at each other outside of 888 St. Johns Place at 11:35 a.m. on Nov. 6 Neither appeared to have been injured in the scuffle — nor were any onlookers — but an unoccupied Ford Explorer parked nearby was struck in the windshield.

After the shots were fired, both men fled on foot in opposite directions down St. Johns Place.

The first individual is described by the NYPD as being of slim build with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, navy blue jacket, black pants and multicolored sneakers. 

The second suspect is described as male with a slim build and was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue pants. 

According to NYPD data, the 77th Precinct — which encompasses the northern portion of Crown Heights and a portion of Prospect Heights — has reported 27 felony assault cases within the past 28 days since Nov. 5. So far this year, the area has reported 357 felony assaults so far this year, a 13% increase compared to the 316 reported in the same time period last year.
