One teen died and three people were injured, two severely, after a fire broke out in an apartment on East Eighth Street in Kensington at 5:30 am today, fire officials said.

The victim, 16, was found unconscious in the bathroom on the second floor of the three-story home between Beverly Road and Avenue C, along with her two sisters, 24 and 27, according to the fire department. The girl was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The other two sisters are in critical condition at Kings County Hospital Center along with a third person who suffered minor injuries, officials said.

There were no working smoke detectors at the house and the blaze took approximately 106 firefighters to extinguish, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
