Hurler Jaison Vilera pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking out seven to lead the Clones past the Spinners for their fourth-straight victory.

Hot off a sweep of the Connecticut Tigers, the Clones scored the game-winning run in the third when Wagner Lagrange drove in Angel Manzanarez with a double up the third baseline for the only run of the game.

Vilera’s only trouble came in the sixth when Grant Williams reached third with one out after a passed ball, but the righty from Venezuela struck out Andre Colon looking, and Tyler Dearden grounded out to end the threat. The starter was taken out after he reached the 80 pitch limit.

Cyclones reliever Yeudy Colon pitched out of a one-out, runner-on-second jam in the seventh, and Ryan Selmer threw two scoreless innings giving up just one walk for the save, leading manager Edgardo Alfonzo to cheer his chuckers after the game.

“I think the bottom line is, if you’re throwing strikes, and you get ahead on the count, it’s easy to win games here,” the skipper said. “This league is pretty much pitching. We scored one run and that was good enough.”
