Out with the old and in with the new — longtime Bay Ridge Federal Credit Union prez steps down

Stop the presses — longtime president of the Bay Ridge Federal Credit Union Gene Brody stepped down on April 5 at the annual shareholder’s meeting on April 5 and welcomed executive vice president Anthony Grigos to the position.

Elected officials, Bay Ridge community leaders, staff, and invited guests, including Helena Brody, Maria Grigos, realtor Basil Capetanakis and wife Angelina, Judges Jerry Eisenberg and Matt D’Emic, attorney Robert Howe and wife Diana, and board director John Abi-Habib and wife Sonia, gathered at the Bay Ridge Manor to welcome in the new president.

Administrative assistant Maria Rando explained that Brody has been with the neighborhood instittion since 1987, adding, “when Gene took to the podium to announce the change of command and step down he said, ‘it’s time to pass the reins.’ ”

“I watched with pride as Gene stepped back and Anthony, who has been with the union since 2013, stepped forward,” she added. “I am so honored and blessed to have worked with two such men of sterling character and wish both men well.”

As Grigos accepted the honor he said, “You [Gene] are a role model and mentor to me and the entire credit union staff and it is with honor and great responsibility, I am eager to take this opportunity to the next level.”

Standing O wishes Mr. Brody a very happy retirement, and Mr. Grigos a successful tenure.
