Police arrested and charged an employee of a Gravesend day care center with felony assault on Tuesday after she was caught on camera throwing a 2-year-old boy to the ground and kicking him, according to authorities.
Cops cuffed 36-year-old Gravesend resident Valeriaya Buonadonna on April 10 just after 4 p.m. at Znayka Day Care, on Avenue U between W. Fourth and W. Fifth streets, where a surveillance camera caught her picking up a 2-year-old boy and throwing him to the ground, causing him to hit his knees on the floor. She then kicked the youngster, causing bruising and swelling to his right knee, according to police.
PIX11 first reported news of the incident and obtained the video footage of it, and reported that the boy’s mother said that Buonadonna flew into her rage because her son refused to take a nap. A witness told the boy’s parents about what happened, prompting them to alert police, according to PIX11.
A woman who answered the phone at the day care on Thursday told a reporter that she had no comment on the incident or the assault charge.
