Police: Man stole thousands in stuff from cars

Cops arrested a 24-year-old man for stealing more than $3,000 in items from cars parked along Court Street on May 23.

The arresting officers saw the suspect near W. Ninth Street at around 3 am, where he was jiggling door handles and peering into car windows. When the officers approached and identified themselves as cops, the man fled.

Officers caught up after a brief chase and found an iPad 2, an iPod Nano, Cartier sunglasses, Ralph Lauren Polo cuff links, and a diamond ring.

Designer thief

A 48-year-old woman was arrested for stealing another woman’s designer handbag inside of a Smith Street bar on May 27.

The victim told police that she was inside the watering hole between Degraw and Sackett streets at around 3:30 pm when the suspect snagged her Louis Vuitton handbag that was hanging on her chair, and sprinted for the door.

Lap time

A 57-year-old man was arrested for driving drunk on Dikeman Street on May 22.

The arresting officer saw a 2003 Infiniti parked at an odd angle near Van Brunt Street at around 11 pm.

When the officer went to question the driver, he found him lying on a woman’s lap, exhibiting signs of intoxication, including slurred speech; red, watery eyes; and an unsteady gait.

Razor sharp

Police arrested a 30-year-old man who they say attacked another man with a razor blade on Columbia Street on May 19.

The victim told police that he was between Bush and Lorraine streets at around 8:15 pm when the suspect used a razor blade to slash his hand and torso. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he received numerous stitches.
