The NYPD is asking for help finding a man who stole a woman’s purse — with credit cards and $300 inside — from the 77th Street subway station in Bay Ridge on May 13.

The theft occurred just after 10:30 pm, when the woman was exiting the station through the turnstile and the man approached her and offered to help with her luggage, police said. He then grabbed her bag — with the wallet, cash, and plastic inside — before fleeing on foot towards 76th Street.

Police describe the man as a forty-something with gray hair, who’s approximately six feet tall, and was last seen wearing glasses, a green jacket over a dark hooded sweatshirt, and black pants.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577–8477 or at (888) 577–4782. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.comor by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. All tips are confidential.
