A police officer shot and killed an 18-year-old in Prospect Heights after cops claim the teen turned a .38 caliber revolver on officers on Atlantic Avenue in the early morning hours of Jan. 4, authorities say.

Three plain clothes officers were driving on patrol near Grand Street when they heard shots ring out at 3:40 am, and found Vinegar Hill resident Joshua Martino firing the pistol inside a nearby bar, according to a report.

After the police piled out of their vehicle and announced themselves, they say Martino made a run for it — but only made it “a few doors down” the Atlantic Avenue when he turned towards the officers with his gun in hand, and the cops opened fire, striking him in the torso, according to a police spokesman.

Martino was taken to nearby Brooklyn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, cops said.

The spokesman couldn’t say what Martino was doing at the Atlantic Avenue lounge, or what incited him to shoot up the place
