The sordid story of a Brooklyn Technical High School teacher accused of sending a lewd picture to a student got astronomically fouler on Tuesday when he was rearrested after prosecutors say they found heaps of evidence showing he preyed on six girls and young women.
He raped one 18-year-old, took a minor to a nude beach without her parents’ permission, tried to coerce two underage girls into having sex with each other, and sent a deluge of explicit messages, including pictures of his penis, to several, according to the newly filed charges.
Mayor DeBlasio, whose son is a student at the prestigious Fort Greene public school, condemned the suspect at an unrelated press conference on Wednesday.
“It’s disgusting. This is someone who clearly should not have been a teacher, and I guarantee you he will never teach in a classroom again,” said DeBlasio in Dumbo after the announcement of a new city website. “It’s absolutely unacceptable, and he will suffer plenty of consequences for it.”
The accused continues to draw his salary, per education department procedure before a teacher is formally disciplined or fired.
Cops first cuffed the 44-year-old East Flatbush resident last month for allegedly sending a nude selfie to a 16-year-old student. Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation seized three computers and two cellphones following the arrest and uncovered thousands of text messages and hundreds of photos and videos that implicated him in the 36 crimes he is now charged with, prosecutors said. The investigation uncovered evidence showing he preyed on the six teenagers between 2011 and 2014, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
A judge set his bail at $1 million this time around. The alleged nude beach incident netted him a kidnapping charge, which alone could carry a maximum sentence of 25 years.
The man is also accused of terrorizing an ex-student who he allegedly had a sexual relationship with, and with resisting arrest.
