A charlatan scammed a woman Downtown on July 23.
The victim told police that someone called her office line at a MetroTech Center bank near Gold Street from a number belonging to a Queens police precinct, where a man on the other end claimed her identification had been stolen for drug trafficking and that she needed to wire over $23,000 at 11:30 a.m.
The hoaxer told the woman that if she didn’t pay them they would dispatch police to arrest her, so she transferred the money but later realized that she had been duped, according to the authorities.

A thief robbed an elderly man she met on a date at Clark Street on July 25.
The victim told cops that he met the woman on the dating site sugar
When he woke up the next morning he noticed that the scoundrel had left and pocketed $100 and his credit card, which she made several purchases with before he canceled it with his bank, according to the authorities.
Purse pinched
A sneak nabbed a woman’s purse on Hoyt Street on July 26.
The victim told cops she was waiting to pick up her food at a Chinese restaurant between State Street and Atlantic Avenue when the bandit grabbed the bag from her walker at 1:10 p.m.
