Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a home near Avenue Z and E. 24th Street on Aug. 8.

Police reported that the suspect stole approximately $4,000 in cash and some pricey jewelry — including six Gucci watches, four Tag Heuer watches, two bracelets, two pairs of earrings, and three wedding rings.

Security camera footage from inside the home shows the suspect, wearing white sneakers, black jeans, and a dark T-shirt with a light-colored hooded short-sleeve shirt, apparently rifling through drawers and dressers in a bedroom while holding a flashlight in his mouth.

The thief allegedly entered the building through a rear basement window, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577–8477. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. All tips are strictly confidential.
