A Sea Gate man will spend at least 20 years behind bars for carrying out a brutal 2017 attack in which he fatally slashed a Sheepshead Bay woman’s throat and raped another woman — his ex-girlfriend — while her 11-year-old-daughter hid nearby, reps from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office announced on Thursday.

The sentence reflects the heinous nature of the case, and will help those affected by it move on with their lives, according to District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

“This was a terrifying attack that left an innocent woman dead, another woman brutally assaulted, and a child forever traumatized,” Gonzalez said. “The defendant inflicted unimaginable violence on this family. Today’s lengthy prison sentence is a step toward justice for the victims in this case.”

A judge sentenced 42-year-old Ruslan Baimov to 20 years to life in prison for the five-hour-long October 29, 2017 attack, which began around midnight, when he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Sea Gate apartment by pushing in a window air conditioner unit, according to information from Gonzalez’s office. Baimov then slit the throat of the woman’s friend, 42-year-old Sheepshead Bay resident Larysa Saad, in the kitchen of the apartment, according to the District Attorney’s office.

Baimov then cut his ex-girlfriend’s clothes, ran the knife up and down her body — causing a laceration to her leg — and raped her while her daughter hid in a bedroom, according to information from Gonzalez’s office.

After Baimov fled, paramedics rushed both women to Coney Island Hospital, where Saad died on Nov. 7.

Police arrested Baimov at the scene of the attack on the same day he carried it out, and charged him with assault, rape, burglary, and attempted murder. He pled guilty to second-degree murder and predatory sexual assault earlier this month, according to information from the District Attorney’s office.
