They’re still rocking!
Cobble Hill Health Center cheered 40 years of providing care to seniors at its “Rock of Aging” gala on Nov. 17, and the nursing home’s head said it was particularly great to be celebrating the center’s long life when so many others across the city are shutting.
“It was a special celebration because many of the facilities have closed their doors but we’re still expanding and growing,” said Tony Lewis, the chief executive officer of the home.
More than 200 people turned out for the shindig, which also honored First Presbyterian Church’s Rev. Dr. Paul Smith for his work with the home’s residents.
The gala raised $275,000 for the health center’s “life enrichment” program, which provides fun activities for seniors such as trekking to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade for ice cream and listening to music.
Guests enjoyed music at the shindig, too — showing off their best moves on the dance floor after indulging in cocktails and dinner, making for an all-around good time, said Lewis.
“It was a very good, successful event,” he said.
