Short pier is long on housing – Chorus of objections rises in response to Brooklyn Bridge Park plans

About 60 local residents gathered at Long Island College Hospital last week to discuss results of a new community input plan concerning the Pier 6 portion of Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Many of the residents appeared disenchanted with the city and state’s plan for the 85-acre waterfront park stretching from the Manhattan Bridge to Atlantic Avenue.

In particular, several remained vexed at all the housing on the Atlantic Avenue/Pier 6 side of the park that is set to help make the park self-sustainable.
