It is lit!
Luxury electric car maker Tesla has now illuminated the new version of the “Red Hook” sign it promised to bring back to its Van Brunt Street showroom last week.
The original sign, circa 2005, was a more folksy effort, made out of rope lights wrapped around wood and dating and spelling out the nabe’s name in prominent block letters that some residents dubbed “Red Hook’s welcome mat to the world.”
Tesla’s own version of the sign, which the company turned on on Tuesday, is sturdier and smaller, and sits higher on the building.
