Talk about a love seat.

Furniture retailer Raymour and Flanigan hosted the American Cancer Society at its Marine Park franchise on Oct. 1, drawing in shoppers with wine, cheese, and pastries before representatives of the cancer charity socked them right in the feels.

“Breast Cancer has no respect for age, color, or any barriers. You never know when it’s going to happen to you and your family,” said Keisha Sydney, a representative of the charity who was soliciting donations at the Flatbush Avenue furniture store. “It’s a silent killer and the more awareness that’s raised, the better it gets.”

The American Cancer Society is gearing up for its annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Prospect Park on Oct. 18, and Raymour and Flanigan was happy to provide the organization with space at its store to solicit donations and advertise this year’s big event, which is expected to raise more than $6 million.

In addition to the American Cancer Society reps, a saleswoman from Avon was also on hand to sell discounted beauty, fragrance, and skin care products — and all the profits were handed over to the gals in pink to help in the fight against breast cancer.

“If a product went for $15, I’d give $5 to the ladies at the American Cancer Society,” said Helen Grell-Rotante, a sales leader at Avon. “It was beautiful event,” she added, “very well done.”

Raymour and Flanigan hosted the American Cancer Society at its location throughout the weekend, where shoppers could pick up brochures about the disease and the upcoming walk buy tickets to a charity raffle for an array prizes.

In addition to funding cancer research, the American Cancer Society provides many services for those suffering from the life threatening illness, including a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week information hotline at 800-227-2345.
