Sheepshead Bay

Congratulations to Alyssa Siriano, a graduate of Our Lady of Grace Elementary School — and this year’s proud recipient of the Lorraine Buckley Scholarship.

The scholarship will help with Alyssa’s tuition at St. Edmund Preparatory, where the stellar student is headed in the fall.

John Lorenzetti, principal at St. Edmund Prep, presented the award at an Incoming Freshman brunch.

The plaudit was created by Charles Buckley, in memory of his wife Lorraine Buckley, a long-time faculty member of Our Lady of Grace School, who passed away in 2008. Her son, Gerard Buckley, also a teacher, taught at St. Edmund Prep for many years.

His wife, Pattie Buckley, invoked more than a few misty eyes when she took to the podium.

“What a wonderful tribute to Lorraine and her many years of dedicated service to Our Lady of Grace,” she said.

Standing O wishes Alyssa good luck in her high school years, and looks forward to giving her another Standing O when she graduates from St. Edmund.
