United together

Let us unite and put our hands together for the Fifth Avenue Committee, the genius group behind the Stronger Together initiative.

The program is a new partnership developed by the award-wining F.A.C., Brooklyn Workforce Innovations, Red Hook Initiative, and Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation to reduce poverty by providing free job training and placement, adult education, and family support services, including legal and financial advice, benefit counseling, and tax preparation for public housing residents in Red Hook and Gowanus.

More than 30 borough movers and shakers were present at the program’s launch last month, including Councilmen Carlos Menchaca, (D-Sunset Park), Stephen Levin (D-Boerum Hill), and Brad Lander (D-Gowanus), as well as program partners and participants.

Councilman Lander explained the importance of the initiative for community residents.

“Stronger Together stands poised to lift over 1,200 people out of poverty through new opportunities in education, employment, and job placement,” he said.

Standing O says, “Stay strong, stay united, stand together.”
