Sparking reliability

Three volts to borough daughter Candice Tsay, a researcher and senior planning analyst in Demonstration Projects, at Consolidated Edison, for winning the Technology Transfer Award from the Electric Power Research Institute.

Standing O pal Candice was part of a three-member team that worked with the institute to determine the value distributed energy resources — such as solar, wind, combined heat and power, and storage — can have in helping Con Edison keep service reliable in areas where the need for power is growing.

Con Edison provided the findings in a proceeding before the New York State Public Service Commission. That proceeding resulted in a commission order that seeks to determine how much money the owners of certain distributed energy resources should receive for the benefits they provide to the electrical grid, reliability, and the environment.

Candice has worked for the energy giant since June 2014.

Joining her on the research team were Tom Mimnagh, department manager of Utility of the Future, and Steve Wemple, general manager in Utility of the Future.

Standing O says, “Thanks a watt.”
