A massive police presence descended on Brownsville Thursday afternoon, when a gun-welding man barricaded himself inside an apartment for 2 hours, before NYPD hostage negotiators were able to get the suspect into custody.

Sources said the situation began at around 12:45 p.m., when the man walled himself inside a building at 91 Junius St.

Police were not immediately able to confirm what sparked the incident, but several members of the NYPD’s Warrant Squad were on the scene throughout the hours-long chaos.

After nearly 2 hours of stalemate, authorities said, cops were finally able to collar the man at around 2:42 p.m.

First responders were seen walking the handcuffed suspect out of the building and into the back of an ambulance, which reportedly transported the man to an area hospital.

Throughout the pandemonium, authorities created a wide perimeter around the scene, shutting down several streets to through-traffic, and an NYPD helicopter was seen flying overhead throughout the afternoon.
