This local pol is really trying to get in his youngest constituents’ good books.
Councilman Antonio Reynoso (D–Bushwick) swung by a Williamsburg library on Wednesday to treat local youngsters to some classic children’s literature, and the pol said he had a blast spreading the joy of reading at the branch’s special story time.
“I had a great time sharing my passion for reading with the children and continue to be a big supporter of early childhood literacy,” said Reynoso, who grew up in the neighborhood. “It makes such a big difference in children’s lives.”
Reynoso read Eric Carle’s classic “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” to a group of little ones at the Leonard Library for the branch’s Big Leonard Playdate — a day of book-centric fun and games to promote literacy amongst Williamsburg’s littlest library members.
The event was just one of many fun and interactive ways the Devoe Street branch encourages learning while keeping tykes entertained, said one local parent, who gave the location’s children’s section a big thumbs up.
“It’s a library that has a really great kid’s program,” said Jessica Canicio, who brought her 16-month-old son Manu so he could learn alongside other tykes. “That’s why we go there.”
