A Sunset Park man will spend at least 22 years behind bars for his role in the murder of his former girlfriend’s mother and her stepfather at their Sheepshead Bay home in 2015.

Jerry Maisonett, 35, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder last August and was sentenced Wednesday by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Niki Warin to 22 years to life in prison.

According to an investigation by the DA’s office, Maisonett and his former girlfriend, Destiny Garcia, murdered Rosie Sanchez, 38, and Anderson Nunez, 40, in their apartment located at 2364 Batchelder St. on Dec. 28, 2015, at 3:30 p.m.

Garcia’s mother, Rosie Sanchez, 38, was found dead in a chair inside the back bedroom of her fifth-floor apartment, having been shot in the head and stabbed in the heart. Her boyfriend, Anderson Nunez, 40, was shot twice and stabbed more than 30 times.

Destiny Garcia, who was 15 at the time of the slaying and also lived in the apartment, was arrested on Jan. 4, 2016, after she made statements about the killings to a cousin, who alerted police.

She was convicted of two counts of first-degree manslaughter and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon following a jury trial and will be sentenced on August 3.

A subsequent investigation lead to Maisonett’s arrest on February 16, 2016.
