Police arrested a 42-year-old Sunset Park woman on Dec. 17 after she allegedly hit and killed an 89-year-old Sunset Park woman in a three-car crash in Dyker Heights.
Police responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of 81st Street and 11th Avenue on Sunday at around 2:45 pm, when a car traveling from 10th avenue to 11th avenue on 81st Street hit another car, which the perpetrator was driving up 11th Avenue toward 80th Street. The arrested driver then hit a third car — which had the 89-year-old victim inside — parked at the intersection of 81st Street and 11th avenue.
Emergency medical personnel treated the 42-year-old driver and a 79-year-old female passenger, both of whom had minor injuries. The 89-year-old victim was transported to Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and the Police Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident, according to police.
