A Sunset Park woman is in critical condition after a Queens driver in a box truck struck her as she was crossing the street just blocks from her home on Saturday, according to authorities.

The collision occurred April 27 just after 10:50 a.m., when 67-year-old Xiang Chen struck 72-year-old Youfeng Xu — who was crossing Seventh Avenue from the Sixth Avenue side toward the Eighth Avenue side — as Chen made a left in his truck from 55th Street onto Seventh Avenue, police said.

Emergency medical personnel found Xu on the pavement with severe head trauma before transporting her to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where she remains in critical condition, according to police.

The Police Department’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad conducted an investigation at the scene, and cops cuffed Chen, charging him with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to use due care, officers said.

A rep for the department did not immediately respond to inquiries about whether or not police arrested Chen at the scene and whether or not Xu was crossing the street in the crosswalk or outside of it.
