Caught wet-handed
A 13-year-old girl was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal a man’s phone at Bath Avenue on June 13.
According to the 42-year-old victim, the girl approached him on a park bench between 24th Avenue and Bay 37th Street and tried to grab his phone. When the girl failed to obtain it, she threw a water balloon at the man, causing no injuries. The young girl was identified at the scene and arrested, police say.
Mom gone mad
Cops arrested a woman for allegedly biting police inside her Bay Parkway home on June 13.
Cops say that employees for the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) called law enforcement from the suspect’s house between Benson Avenue and 86th Street after the angry mom refused to let the workers take her two children. When an officer tried to handcuff the mother, she flailed, kicked, and bit the cop in the arm, authorities report.
Break-in bandit
A burglar stole jewelry and $2,700 in cash from a house on 25th Avenue on June 16.
The perp most likely snuck in through the rear window of the residence between Benson Avenue and 86th Street, snatching two rings, a necklace, and the cash, according to police.
Phone phoney
A scammer swindled an 80-year-old man out of $3,000 on June 15 by pretending to be his grandson.
The con artist allegedly called the victim, who lives on Bay Parkway between W. Ninth and W. 10th streets, and said that he had been in a car accident a needed money for bail. The phony then met the victim at his house and collected the cash, cops say. When the weasel called the senior later asking for more money, the victim said he would call the police and the crook hung up, cops said.
Subway thief
A filcher cut into a man’s pocket to steal his wallet and cellphone on the N train by the Kings Highway Station on June 15.
Police say that the man was asleep when the thief tried to remove property as the train approached the station between E. 15th and E. 16th streets. When the victim felt his pocket move, he woke up and confronted the perp, cops report. The two allegedly exited the train at Avenue U Station, where the pilferer gave back the man’s cellphone, before fleeing with his wallet, cops said.
