Greenpoint

Mural ‘Y’ beautiful

Kudos to Town Square BK, a local non-profit, for helping to beautify the outside walls at IS 318, The Eugenio Maria de Hostas Middle School, at 101 Walton St. in Greenpoint.

On Oct. 3 the magnificent works of art, which were created not only to beautify, but to raise awareness, were unveiled to the oohs and aahs of Stephen Donofrio of Greenpoint Innovations, (partners in the community initiative), Anna Corinna Sellinger, PTA president; Leander Eric Windley, principal at the school; Alicja Winnicki, superintendent of District 14; Assemblyman Joseph Lentol, (D–Greenpoint) and Councilman Stephen Levin, (D–Greenpoint). Artist Sonny (creator of the jaguar and little girl mural) and borough-based duo ASVP (elephant, bear, and tiger mural), shared in the dedication to the school.

Town Square BK was aware of the staff’s desire to beautify the outside, so it made it happen.

Created in 2004, its goal is to collaborate, bring together, and help in community building by positive programming. It serves the Williamsburg and Greenpoint communities.
