Sometimes Santa’s helpers wear blue instead of red.

The 70th Precinct celebrated the holidays by hosting its annual Christmas party in Midwood on Dec. 10. The officers doled out plenty of presents to the youngsters — and a detective said the officers are going to deliver the remaining gifts Santa-style to the kids who missed the festivities.

“It was a shame that some of the kids couldn’t make it,” said Detective Dominic Scotto, a Community Affairs officer. “The rest of the gifts we’re going to deliver to the kids that couldn’t make it.”

The officers gave the kids an array of toys including dolls, cars, fire trucks, games, and art supplies.

The 70th Precinct Community Council typically hosts monthly meetings on the last Wednesday of every month where individuals can discuss local public safety issues, but Scotto said the party was a nice way to celebrate the holidays — and the community.

“It is always a nice event where we can help out the kids of the community,” he said.
