A man riding a motorized scooter was struck on Avenue R in Midwood on Wednesday.
The man was struck by a service truck from the American Automobile Association as he crossed East 13th Street at approximately 9:10 pm June 25.
The victim suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to the Lutheran Medical Center, though medics on the scene saw slim chance of recovery.
“He was removed to Lutheran Hospital in critical condition,” said a police spokesman.
The Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad was on the scene, but no charges have been filed.
One local resident, who didn’t witness the accident but saw the aftermath, was upset by the accident but not surprised.
“It is really not a safe intersection,” said the woman, who asked that her name not be published. “Lots of times they speed in that location.”
