The combatants usually keep it pretty civil, but that shouldn’t dissuade you — worst case scenario, you have to listen to “Piano Man” for 15 minutes, but if things do go south, you’ll wanna be there when the piano wire starts flying.
If the barrage of cold weather has you down on Saturday, don your Stetson hat and scoot your boots to the Leif Bar (6725 Fifth Ave. between 67th and Senator streets), where southern rockers Head and South will pump out the country-tinged rock tunes starting at 9:30 pm.
If you’re looking for a sound that matches the weather, don’t think twice — catch lounge-noir act the Impulsions at Kelly’s Tavern (9259 Fourth Ave. between 92nd and 93rd streets) at 10:30 pm. The quintet mixes classic pop and soul with a shot of smoky vocals that will warm you up without melting your icy vibe.
And if you just need to get the lead out, pray you make it to the Wicked Monk (9510 Fifth Ave. between 95th and 96th streets) by 11 pm, because Staten Island guitar-slingers Screaming Broccoli are busting heads at the religious-themed house of vice.
Then on Sunday, let some balladeers bring you back to earth for the week ahead. Six-string acoustic songster Max Christopher takes the stage at Schnitzel Haus (7319 Fifth Ave. between 73rd and 74th streets) at 4 pm.
