What do you hear at a GOP health care rally?

Our reporter went to a Republican anti-health care reform rally in Bay Ridge on Sunday. Here’s what he heard from the locals:

“Obama is doing nothing but printing dollar bills. There cannot be free health care; the money needs to come from some where and doctors need to get paid.”
Angelo Dolce, veteran.

“To fix our current health care system, we shouldn’t start over, but rather fix what we have. I know, because I was in the FBI, that there is a tremendous amount of fraud going on in health care and we need to clean that up.”
Mike Grimm, candidate for Congress and former FBI agent

“Any time something is free, it’s overused. The public option will bring people to doctors who have headaches and will crowd hospital beds for no reason. It’s like an all-you-can-eat buffet. People eat more than they usually would. My grandmother died in Israel, which has a Socialist health care, because the hospital did not have any beds for her. She died of a heart attack in the waiting room.”
David Storobin, lawyer

“The government option with be just like Medicare, and Medicare is broke. Democratic health care will destroy competition between insurance companies because it’ll have to raise its costs and force people on to the public option because it’s the cheapest.”
Tony Varriano, Staten Island resident
