Williamsburg entrepreneurs worried about keeping their doors open when officials shutter the L train’s Brooklyn–Manhattan tube in April can prep for the looming closure with the help of local leaders at a Wednesday awareness event.
Business boosters with the North Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and bigwigs from real-estate firm Compass are hosting the session at N. Sixth Street’s National Sawdust, where they will be on hand to answer questions and listen to worries about the 15 month closure starting on April 27, 2019, along with reps from such groups and agencies the L Train Coalition, the Grand Street Business Improvement District, and the city’s Department of Small Business Services.
The event is the first organizers will host as part of an ongoing series ahead of the closure, which will force the 225,000 L train riders who cross the river on the subway daily to find alternative routes between the Borough of Kings and Manhattan for the duration of the tunnel’s repairs, which officials promise will wrap by August of 2020.
