Strong winds Thursday morning knocked over a massive tree onto the tracks at Cortelyou Road, snaring service in both directions, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The tree — which brought down a fence with it — came crashing down onto a Coney Island-bound Q train at 8:45 am, said authority spokeswoman Marisa Baldeo.
Crews jumped into high gear, working to remove the tree and debris from the tracks by cutting up the trunk into large chunks so crane cars could more easily haul it off — and they were still working at 11:30 am, according to the authority.
Manhattan-bound Q trains resumed at 11:02 am, and Coney Island-bound Q trains resumed just before noon. Brighton Beach-bound B trains were still running local between Prospect Park and Kings Highway because of work equipment on the tracks as of 12:15 pm, said Baldeo.
