A woman was struck and killed by a train after jumping onto the tracks at the 59th Street station in Sunset Park on Monday morning, police said.

The woman jumped in front of the train at around 8:15 a.m., according to an NYPD spokesman, who added that the victim was between 30 and 40 years old and that police have not yet identified her.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority announced on Twitter shortly after the woman was struck that the incident had caused “extensive delays and service changes” for the D, N, and R lines, and that there would be no R train service between the 36th Street and 95th Street stations.

The N and R lines resumed full service a little more than two hours after the incident occurred.
