Woman trapped for 20 minutes of terror in flipped over ambulance

A woman suffered through 20 minutes of terror while trapped inside the wreckage of an ambulance that flipped over after colliding with a Honda Civic in Kensington Thursday.

Firefighters who raced to the scene found the emergency vehicle sprawled on its side on Albemarle Road near E. Fourth Street at 9:52 am with the woman was trapped inside the wreck.

They freed her using the Hurst tool, the so-called “jaws of life.” She and two other injured people were transported to Lutheran Medical Center. All are in stable condition, said an FDNY spokeswoman.
