Would-be bandit attempts check-cashing heist

Check bounced

A would-be bandit attempted to rob a Fourth Avenue check-cashing business on Aug. 4.

The store employee told police that she was working at the front desk of the quasi-bank between 52nd and 53rd streets at around 10 a.m., when the robber slid her a note, which read “Listen lady need $3,000 fast. Only $100 dollar bills. No dye packs and if not fast I shoot.”

The store employee then ran away towards the back of the store, causing the perp to flee the store empty handed, cops said.

Soda-popped!

A bruiser assaulted a man with a plastic soda bottle on Fort Hamilton Parkway on Aug. 3.

The victim told police that he began arguing with the perp between McDonald Avenue and E. Second Street at around 3 p.m., when the goon punched him in the face, and threw the 20 ounce soda bottle at him, cops said.

Sunset Heist

A burglar looted a Fifth Avenue storefront on July 30.

The store owner told police that the crook threw a brick through the window of the vacant store near 58th Street at around 4:30 a.m., before nabbing $100 from the cash register, cops said.

Rough night

A thief robbed a sleeping man on 56th Street on July 30.

The victim told police that he fell asleep on the front steps of his home between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, when the crook stole his wallet and cell phone at around 5:10 a.m., cops said.

Bike bandit

A criminal stole an E-Bike on 44th Street on July 30.

The victim told police that he left battery-powered bike unlocked between Sixth and Seventh avenues at around 3 a.m., when the sneak snatched it and zoomed off, cops said.

Cash grab

A prowler robbed a 43rd Street store on July 29.

The victim told police that the perp entered the store’s parent business plaza near 50th Street through an unlocked door at around 8:30 a.m. before breaking the lock on the retail space on the building’s fourth floor and stealing $2,000 in cash and a laptop, cops said.

Beat

Three crooks robbed a man on 49th Street on Aug. 5.

The victim told police that he was walking between Third and Fourth avenues when the marauders approached and hit him in the back of the head shortly before 3 p.m. Once the victim fell to the floor, the raiders stole his cellphone, wallet, and backpack, cops said.
